Welcome to the World of Digital Communication

By viewing my blog, you may have unknowingly entered the new world of communication. You are, in fact, reading my views and ideas, but I am not physically talking to you. You are beginning to understand my thoughts by simply logging in to the internet, viewing my blog, and you can even give me feedback in comments. This idea of digital communication has been in the works for a long time. The more recent and popular forms of digital communication include facebook, text messaging, twitter, blogs, e-mail, and skype. I use these tools everyday, along with billions upon billions of my peers. In this technological age of constant new and improved digital inventions, there is hardly a sole on earth that is not influenced by digital communication.
Digital communication aids me in keeping in touch with my friends and family that live far away. I know that if I didn't have facebook or skype, I would not be able to keep up with the lives of my friends in different countries. Facebook and skype are free, whereas if I had to call them once a month or whatever on the telephone, it would become impossible to talk to them due to the expenses of the calls. I would say that I rely heavily on digital communication. I can get any information, talk to anyone I want, whenever I want, all the time. If I wasn't able to access this constant tool, I would probably feel vaguely lost. Our society as a whole would basically feel lost. I know this is a horrible thing but it is very true. Take a group of teenagers and give them a weekend without cell phones, computers, t.v., radio, nook, whatever.. and see how they feel even in the first five minutes!

Now ask yourself... how much do you rely on digital communication?
